The Google Assistant is rolling out to one more form factor, as Google announced today that Android TV is finally getting its flagship voice command system.The Google Assistant feature will be available on Nvidia Shield TV - also announced at CES 2017 - owners first before rolling to Sony Bravia TVs in the coming months.

If you have any experience with Google Assistant, nothing will surprise you here. You trigger Assistant by tapping the microphone button on the Sheild TV’s remote. You’ll hear the familiar activation noise and you’re ready to command Assistant to do your bidding. Well, kind of. While you can ask it to play content from places like HBO NOW, Netflix, or YouTube, there are some missing features.

Google, to celebrate the arrival of Assistant on Android TV, is offering a free three-month YouTube Red trial to Shield users where they can enjoy ad-free videos. Voice commands like "play 4K videos on YouTube" will work fine on Shield TV.
